Phoenix Rising

A Five Week Evolutionary Journey for the Embodied Soul with Ya’Acov DK
10th Feb - 10th Mar 2022

Hidden in the Wings

During this five week intensive, you will work with what we call the ‘creation story’ you have inherited and lived from. Our creation story has a powerful effect on how we experience life. We call the characters in your story ‘understudies’. In the theatre, an understudy is the one who steps in as a replacement when the main actor is unwell or unavailable. On the stage of life, these understudies have often forgotten that they stepped in to ‘hold space’ while the real star waits hidden in the wings.

Rise from the Ashes

Learn the powerful DIY shamanic healing tool, ‘The Phoenix Process’, developed by the Founders of Movement Medicine, Ya’Acov & Susannah Darling Khan.

10th Feb - 10th Mar 2022
Phoenix Rising is a 5 week intensive workshop, designed to catalyse you into a new level of embodied awareness and shift the balance of power inside yourself.

Live sessions

Embodied, immersive and direct experience of the week’s theme. Held every Thursday evening (UK).

Phoenix Ceremony

A powerful ceremony diving deep into 'The Phoenix Process'. Held on Sunday March 6th.

Listening circles

A supportive group sharing circle, held by your workshop assistant every Friday (am or pm).

Audio Lessons

Evocative 21 minute audio teachings which focus on the theme and practices of the week.

Phoenix Rising will support you to:

Work creatively with the stories that provoke havoc and pain in our lives. We call the characters that hold these stories our ‘understudies’.
Increase your lived understanding of the dynamic balance of ego and soul within the psyche.
Learn to work with the embodied, DIY shamanic soul retrieval process known as the ‘Phoenix Process’.
Discover tools for healing personal and transgenerational trauma in a safe, strongly held space.
Embody the transformational medicine of the Phoenix that sits at the centre of the Movement Medicine Mandala.
Develop your daily embodiment practice and discover the power of repetition and liberating structure.
To participate in this workshop, you need to have completed 25hrs of Movement Medicine or other related practice (5Rhythms, Open Floor, Soul Motion, etc). It is imperative that you have the inner and outer resources to engage with this intense personal work in a responsible way.

The Journey

10th Feb - 10th Mar 2022
The Phoenix Rising intensive is a requirement for all Movement Medicine Apprentices and Professionals. You do not need to be an Apprentice to register, however, attending this workshop will count towards that path if you choose to train further with Movement Medicine in the future.

Acceptance & Intention

February 10th
Our opening session will guide you to a deeper and more precise understanding of where and how you are as we begin. This will support you to set the inner compass of your intention for the journey ahead.

The Unbroken and The Chambers of the Heart

February 17th
In order to be able to go as deep as 'The Phoenix Process' will take you, an embodied understanding of your own emotional intelligence is necessary. This essential aspect of Movement Medicine will expand your movement vocabulary and your capacity to stay present.

Your Creation Story & The Dance of the Understudy

February 24th
Now that we have more resources in place, we can open the doors to the unconscious stories that maintain the status quo within us. Experiencing that what you perceive is not necessarily the whole truth is a gateway to liberation.

Phoenix Solo + Q & A

March 3rd
This is where we experience the Phoenix Process in its full form for the first time. Learning the practice is the goal so that you can go deeper as you gain confidence and experience with it.

Phoenix Ceremony

March 6th
We will bring all that we have gathered into the amplified cauldron and alchemy of Movement Medicine ceremony. The intention is to bring the medicine of the Phoenix and the Phoenix Process into our bones.

Integration & Completion

March 10th
Perhaps the most important aspect of any work like this is the time, space and attention we give to integrating what we have learned into the fabric of our day-to-day lives. This last module will break that process down into small steps (with the occasional quantum leap!) that will enable you to develop what you have learned in your ongoing journey.

Spread your wings!
Time to exhale and celebrate the profound journey you’ve been on. Phoenix Rising is a requirement for our Apprenticeship and Professional programmes, upon completion of this workshop you'll be awarded an official Movement Medicine certificate. Learn more about the School of Movement Medicine.

What Ya'Acov's international team have to say about their experience of 'The Phoenix Process' and how it has transformed their lives
Hear the Call
Life is on the line and we are all on the front line in these changing times.
~ Ya'Acov Darling Khan

Ya'acov Darling Khan

Shaman & Movement Medicine Co-Founder
Ya'Acov has been studying and practicing shamanism all his life. When he was 21, he was hit by lightning and through this, began a three-decade-long journey of initiation. He has been recognised as a practicing shaman by Elder Shamans from the Sami (European tradition), and Achuar and Sápara peoples of the Amazon. Together with his wife Susannah, he is the Co-Creator of Movement Medicine, a contemporary and dynamic shamanic practice designed to support people from all walks of life to be who they are and give what they’ve got.
Ya’Acov’s work comes straight from the heart. He inspires people, often with great humour, to remember who they are. He is the best-selling author of Jaguar in the Body, Butterfly in the Heart (Hay House 2017), the creator of Shaman’s Song - Shamanic Journeys to Empower, Inspire and Re-Connect (Hay House 2018), and the Co-Author of Movement Medicine - How to Dance, Awaken and Live your Dreams, (Hay House 2009). His new book, Shaman – Invoking Power, Purpose and Presence at the Core of Who You Are was published by Hay House in Spring 2020.

Word from the Community

Over the years, we have worked together in my village and in the UK, where every year I join Ya’Acov and Susannah’s Long Dance ceremony. So I have come to know him both as a friend and as a very genuine and compassionate shaman. He has put his knowledge in the service of healing through music, sound and movement, and leads very powerful ceremonies that transform thousands of people, helping them to deal with their suffering and answer their most important questions. He is a great healer who has helped me in my shamanic spiritual growth.

Manari Ushigua, Shaman of the Sapara people of the Ecuadorean Amazon

Working with Ya'Acov is a gift. So grounded and committed to truth with a humility which belies the depth and gravitas of his life and professional experience, to have the privilege of working with him is to say a resounding yes to your own healing and expansion. Unquestionably one of the most powerful and authentic teachers I have experienced, I cannot recommend him more highly.

Jessica Huie MBE, Author of Purpose

Ya’Acov is a gifted healer of the highest integrity. His work will help you understand, embrace and harness the power of your Inner Shaman. His words and guidance serve as a path to live with greater purpose and create a world where we can turn suffering into healing. Thank you, Ya’Acov, for being such a blessing, in and for our world.

Vex King , Mind coach and Bestselling Author

The Phoenix work with Ya’Acov and Susannah is one of the most important tools I have worked with on my personal journey in Life. I have used it often  during my journey with Movement Medicine and it has really supported me in transforming a lot of shame – not being good enough! – being wrong! – do I have the right to be here on Earth? etc. Without the Phoenix I would not have been where I am right now – it has simply guided me to come back home to my essence, to be able to live much more fully in contact with my True Self and my Soul.

Matthias Axelsen, Psychotherapist, Mentor and Healer

The Phoenix Retreat is the most transformative thing I have ever done. I feel very empowered by the tools we were given to become conscious and dissolve patterns we don’t need any more. And how beautiful and encouraging is this way of creating a new story, a new future for our lives!

Julia Eisenhut, Movement Medicine Professional

Phoenix Rising is a fantastic, strong and deeply magic tool… I feel like I finally arrive somewhere with all my potential and talents that I carry as well as with my fears and limitations.

Kristin Glenewinkel, Movement Medicine Teacher

Our International Team

Our powerhouse team of Movement Medicine Professionals will be assisting Ya’Acov for each of the Thursday live sessions and holding the small group 90 min listening circles every Friday. They each bring their own unique spark, strengthening the potency and potential of the shared container.
