A Bridge Across the Arc of Time

A five week online workshop
with Ya’Acov Darling Khan

Part 3

We will build a strong bridge between the imaginal world and the physical world. It is time to recognize the ways in which we are the masters of our own perception through the stories we tell.

With the Inner Shaman’s help, we will update our vision of a joyfully responsible and fulfilling relationship with the community of life, rooted in the universal shamanic principle of reciprocity. When we are who we are, we transform our world. Life invites us to stand up, take responsibility for our lives, hold our heads high and commit to making a difference in the world. Now is the time.

For committed seekers

Encounter Part Three is only open to those who have completed Parts One & Two. If you are committed to the ongoing discovery of who you are, the development of your medicine, and embracing life’s challenges, then this journey is for you.

Encounter is not suitable for disembodied space cadets and vision junkies who think of shamanism as a competitive journey to have the most far out experiences as often as possible. This workshop is for you if you are determined to make the very most of your life, by embracing your biography and your ancestry as inspiration to be who you are and give what you came here to give.

the journey

Ultimately, the shaman’s role in the community and the inner Shaman’s role within the psyche are the same. To develop and deepen the connection between what we dream and how we act, between who we are and how we are in relationship, and to stay awake to the changes in season and the cycles of development throughout life.

Real Spirits & Imaginary Friends

Thurs 4 May
4 - 7pm UK time
As you work with your Inner Shaman, it’s possible, even probable, that you’ll come up against scepticism, either from others or from yourself. This is normal. We live in a world that has made the rational mind the emperor, so we are bound to question any other perception of reality. I trust the spirits that guide me and when I am working in ritual or healing space, doubt is in the background, where it needs to be. But I’ve come to realize that without the allies of doubt, critical thinking and the checks and balances of elders and mentors, there is only certainty. And certainty closes the door on other possibilities and leads to the desert of dogma.
Listening Circle: Fri 5 May 90 mins (am or pm options)

Diamonds in the Dark: Soul Retrieval & Renewal

Thurs 11 May
4 - 7pm UK time
How we imagine the world to be is how we perceive it to be. The Inner Shaman knows this and shamans the world over understand the importance of freeing the imagination from old stories and meanings that no longer serve us as individuals, communities or as a species. In Module 2, you will learn how to use the Movement Medicine™ SEER Process (Systemic Essential Energy Retrieval), a fantastically useful and effective movement process for discovering the high octane fuel that is stored in our memories of the past.
Listening Circle: Fri 12 May 90 mins (am/pm options available)

1 + 1 + 3: The Inner Shaman's Guide to Relationship

Thurs 18 May
4 - 7pm UK time
The potential alchemy that the Inner Shaman brings to all their relationships is 1 + 1 = 3. Two embodied humans who are aware of themselves and able to expand that awareness to include each other will generate a creative and fertile space called conscious relationship. When both people care for that relationship as if it were a third entity, so much more becomes possible. In Module 3, using the Movement Medicine map for relationships, we will take the time to gain an overview of 4 different areas of relationship. In the dance, we will ask the Inner Shaman to help us to find a new vision for our relationships that is up-to-date and appropriate for who we are becoming.
Listening Circle: Fri 19 May 90 mins (am/pm options available)

It's All About We: Changing the Dream of the Modern World

Thurs 25 May
3 - 7pm UK time
The shaman’s knowledge is direct. It’s not written in a holy book, it’s written in nature. Nature tells shamans about the crisis we are facing. Nature tells everyone. But too many of us aren’t yet listening. The Shaman in you is listening. They aren’t caught in the storm of distraction that has descended on the modern mind. They know we’re all one family living on one Earth under one sky. And what we do to one another and to our environment, we do to ourselves. With only apocalyptic visions to guide us, our capacity to act powerfully is much reduced. In Module 4, we will invite the dancer to become a hollow bone for a vision of the future that empowers us in the present and helps guide us in being part of creating the future.
Listening Circle: Fri 26 May 90 mins (am/pm options available)

Fulfilment: Your Life as a Shamanic Journey

Fri 2 June
3 - 7pm UK time
The heart of a shaman’s life is in the integrity of their relationships – with themselves; with others, one to one; with their community, ranging from their local plants, minerals and animals to the web of life across the planet and out into the universe; with the imaginal world, including their ancestors, descendants, spirits and allies; and with the Great Spirit. For the shaman, fulfilment isn’t just personal, it’s based on their love for life and commitment to all life. In Module 5, we will work with how movement and dance, with the presence of the Inner Shaman, can support us to become more responsible, creative, present and empathic in all our relationships.

The Infinite Well: An Encounter with the Great Spirit: Shamanic Death & Rebirth

Sat 3 June
3 - 9pm UK time
For the Inner Shaman, a good harvest involves experiencing an ever‐deepening connection to self, others, the physical world, the imaginal world and the Great Mystery that is behind it all. I call this place of connection to the divine the infinite well, and it is where I go, alone or with others, to nourish myself and find the resilience and courage to return and face the music with a spring in my step, a tear in my eye and a smile that is soul deep. Module 6 will be our time in ceremony together in which we will offer ourselves up to disappear in the dance and return, refreshed, renewed and more deeply in touch with the Source
This session will include a listening circle

Integration: Completion of the Encounter Series

Sun 4 June
3 - 7pm UK time
As you will know if you have studied any Movement Medicine, our work is all about learning to dance with life. And this means bringing what we learn in the dance onto the dance floor of life. This means integration. And our final session of the workshop will be focused on gathering all the pearls from the journey, celebrating where we have got to, and making our commitments for the road ahead.
This session will include a listening circle

BONUS! Fireside Chat with Ya’Acov

Tues 6 June
6 -7pm UK time
Since this is the end of a very powerful journey, which of course, is only the beginning of whatever comes next, we have decided to offer a short completion session with Ya’Acov. There will be space for sharing and questions.
In honour of your learning journey, you'll receive a certificate of completion at the end of the workshop.
"Personal Power comes from the medicine we have made from our experiences. Choosing to use that power in service of who we are, life itself and the generations who will follow is the art of taking responsibility for our lives. From the work we have already done in Encounter 1 & 2, your Inner Shaman is perfectly placed to support you in that journey and to partner with the source."
- Excerpt from Shaman.

ya'Acov darling khan

Ya'Acov has been studying and practicing shamanism all his life. When he was 21, he was hit by lightning and through this, began a three-decade-long journey of initiation. He has been recognised as a practicing shaman by Elder Shamans from the Sami (European tradition), and Achuar and Sápara peoples of the Amazon. Together with his wife Susannah, he is the Co-Creator of Movement Medicine, a contemporary and dynamic shamanic practice designed to support people from all walks of life to be who they are and give what they’ve got.

Ya’Acov’s work comes straight from the heart. He inspires people, often with great humour, to remember who they are. He is the best-selling author of Jaguar in the Body, Butterfly in the Heart (Hay House 2017), the creator of Shaman’s Song - Shamanic Journeys to Empower, Inspire and Re-Connect (Hay House 2018), and the Co-Author of Movement Medicine - How to Dance, Awaken and Live your Dreams, (Hay House 2009). His new book, Shaman – Invoking Power, Purpose and Presence at the Core of Who You Are was published by Hay House in Spring 2020.

from the community

Over the years, we have worked together in my village and in the UK, where every year I join Ya’Acov and Susannah’s Long Dance ceremony. So I have come to know him both as a friend and as a very genuine and compassionate shaman. He has put his knowledge in the service of healing through music, sound and movement, and leads very powerful ceremonies that transform thousands of people, helping them to deal with their suffering and answer their most important questions. He is a great healer who has helped me in my shamanic spiritual growth.

MANARI USHIGUA, SHAMAN OF THE SAPARA PEOPLE OF THE ECUADOREAN AMAZON

Working with Ya'Acov is a gift. So grounded and committed to truth with a humility which belies the depth and gravitas of his life and professional experience, to have the privilege of working with him is to say a resounding yes to your own healing and expansion. Unquestionably one of the most powerful and authentic teachers I have experienced, I cannot recommend him more highly.

JESSICA HUIE MBE, AUTHOR OF PURPOSE

Ya’Acov is a gifted healer of the highest integrity. His work will help you understand, embrace and harness the power of your Inner Shaman. His words and guidance serve as a path to live with greater purpose and create a world where we can turn suffering into healing. Thank you, Ya’Acov, for being such a blessing, in and for our world.

Vex King, MIND COACH AND BESTSELLING AUTHOR

I bow to you both and your team for this amazing work and always beautiful setup. The music is deep and intelligent to ride the wave - to take me behind the known - to take me home through the shadows.

Yonina, Encounter Participant

I started going through the process of ritual while reading the Shaman book not knowing about the Encounter course. Having Ya'Acov present the rituals in a guided step by step process during the live sessions is gold. I found it embedded the content much deeper than I could have with only the book. The book is a great reference and refresher.

Beátree Hawk, Encounter Participant

Ya'Acov and tutors create an environment so dedicated to our having a rich, creative, fulfilling experience, it makes the entire journey rich, creative, fulfilling. Their skill at guiding us is unrivaled.

I have danced and worked in this field of embodiment, Movement Medicine teaching and Movement Psychotherapy for many years: originally as a primary school and Special Educational Needs teacher in London and since then in Newcastle as a freelance artist, Movement Psychotherapist and dance/aerial teacher. I’ve also co parented 3 children.

This fulfilling, challenging field of work took a turn for the richer and the deeper when I started my apprenticeship with the School of Movement Medicine … this deepening has continued and Movement Medicine is now an embedded and deeply valued part of my resources, my work and my ways. My Movement Medicine teaching includes work in nature, ceremony, SEER and ritual, open classes and workshops. I work with teenagers, adults living with Parkinsons and with children and families. I also weave Movement Medicine into my groups and 1:1 work with pregnant women and new mothers.
